Nicholas Bellefleur
Montreal-based choreographer and interdisciplinary artist, I create immersive experiences that blur the boundaries of the living, artificality and integrity of space and time. My work is rooted in the body: a queer, virtuosic, sensitive, mutant body - traversed by memory, desire, technologies and systems of power.

404: MOTHER NOT FOUND
12 APRIL 2025
Meat Factory (CA)
Fringe Montreal
Presented as part of Meat Factory : Mommy, a concept by the collective duo Primary Witness (Evelynn Yan and Hannah Grove), 404: Mother Not Found is a solo performance that investigates the technosexual futures of the post-human body. At the crossroads of dance, digital performance and bodily autofiction, the work features a queer figure, camouflaged under a blonde wig and mirrored glasses, suspended between exhibition, ritual and algorithmic hallucination.
Illuminated by four white screens arranged at different scales - like portals to hegemonic regimes of vision - the performer goes through a series of iconoclastic gestures: performative striptease, symbolic coitus with an office filing cabinet (a bureaucratic symbol of cognitive capitalism), compulsive production of selfies.
Flirting with the codes of the camgirl, digital narcissism and technopoetic motherhood, he performs an act of queer self-fertilization. An ultrasound image projected onto the belly closes the piece: a fetus, as a residual trace of a consumed technological love.
404: Mother Not Found questions the porosity of contemporary subjectivities, the dissolution of boundaries between the intimate and the archivable, between the body-chair and the body-image. It's a speculative study of self-love as a process of non-binary reproduction, a glitchy ode to machinic sexuality.

MEAT FACTORY is a shamelessly performative event created by the PRIMARY WITNESS collective duo of Evelynn Yan and Hannah Grove. MOMMY is its second version: Mommy. Technology. Renaissance. Icon. Dance. Sex. Immaculate. Immersive. Designed.
The second cry in the MEAT FACTORY series, MOMMY fills you with metallic flavors, feminine rage and techno-maternity. Renaissance guaranteed. Flesh on display. There's bound to be flesh overflowing, oozing, screaming to be seen - it's an invocation.
MOMMY grabs you by the cord, pulls you through the womb and spits you out into a world where motherhood is cybernetic and rage is nurturing. It's like the moment when art, trash and the sacred join hands and kiss each other with their tongues. It's raw, it's sweet, it's too much - and it's intentional.
Want more? Come and suck it.
